Valentine’s Day is believed to have originated in ancient Rome in the 3rd century. A priest named Saint Valentine secretly performed weddings for soldiers who were not allowed to marry. He was executed for this act, and February 14th later became a day to remember love and devotion. Over time, the tradition spread across Europe and became the Valentine’s Day we celebrate today.
バレンタインデーは、3世紀ごろのローマに由来すると言われています。 当時、結婚を禁止されていた兵士たちのために、密かに結婚式を行っていた聖バレンタインという司祭がいました。 彼はその行為によって処刑され、**2月14日が「愛と献身の日」**として記念されるようになりました。 その後、中世ヨーロッパで「恋人たちの日」として広まり、現在のバレンタインデーにつながっています。
